The Taj Mahal is one of the 7 Wonders of the World, yet many people don’t fully understand why this landmark has become so famous, drawing approximately 12,000 tourists per day. Known as the «jewel of Muslim art in India» and «one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world’s heritage,» the UNESCO designated it as one of the Seven Wonders of the World for its historical and architectural significance.
Imagine the revenue generated from this site—every foreign visitor is charged 1,000 Rupees for entry. If we consider that all visitors are foreigners, the Taj Mahal could collect 12,000,000 Rupees daily. The question is, is it worth it? For my taste, it’s a bit pricey, but at least once in your life, you should visit the Taj Mahal.
If you’re planning a visit, here are some helpful tips to enhance your experience:
- Avoid carrying large backpacks. You’re only allowed a small purse with the basics.
- Use the provided lockers if you have a backpack. The Taj Mahal staff will provide secure storage for your belongings.
- Visit in the morning to avoid long lines and crowds, making it easier to take photos and enjoy the site.
- Plan your photos ahead of time. If you have specific shots in mind, head directly to those spots to capture your pictures before the crowds arrive.
- Respect the tomb—you can’t enter the Taj Mahal with shoes, but they will provide plastic covers for your feet.
- Dress comfortably. The weather can be quite warm, so wear comfortable clothing.
- Aim for great shots! It can be challenging with so many people around, but do your best to capture the beauty of the Taj Mahal.
